Cosmetic Dentistry Can Brighten Your Smile and Boost Your Self-Confidence

Many people go through their whole lives concerned about cosmetic imperfections such as chips, discoloration, and minor gaps. Smiling and speaking with confidence can be difficult if you are unhappy with how your smile looks. If you identify with these concerns, Dr. Albert Johnston and his team can enhance the aesthetics of a healthy smile with cosmetic dentistry treatments. During your consultation at our Anderson Township, OH, office, Dr. Johnston will review your unique concerns and recommend appropriate treatment options. We focus on conservative techniques and will only recommend procedures which align with your best interests.

Are You a Good Candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic treatments are intended to enhance the appearance and not the function of your smile, so candidates should be in good oral health. If you have cavities, signs of gum disease, or broken or missing teeth, these issues can be treated at our office prior to beginning cosmetic treatment. Additionally, each cosmetic procedure has its own set of requirements. For example, patients who are considering porcelain veneers need to have a sufficient amount of healthy enamel.

Addressing Your Unique Concerns

Prior to your appointment, we encourage you to carefully evaluate your smile and identify areas where you would like to see an improvement. Providing Dr. Johnston with specifics can help him recommend the most appropriate treatments.

Discoloration or Yellowing

Whitening is a widely used, increasingly popular dental treatment. It can provide transformative results and is often preferred by patients on a tighter budget. The treatment is simple, comfortable, and can be completed in as little as one appointment. Dr. Johnston uses the Opalescence® whitening system for both in-office whitening and take-home trays

Chips or Cracks

Chips or cracks in your teeth can interrupt the symmetry of your smile. Dental bonding is a cost-effective, customizable treatment to address minor imperfections. During the bonding procedure, Dr. Johnston will carefully apply tooth-colored composite resin, smoothing and polishing it to blend seamlessly.

Cosmetic procedures are typically not covered by insurance. We accept CareCredit financing to help you reach your goals on any budget.

Although bonding can look very natural, the results are not quite as durable or lifelike as porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin shells made of translucent dental porcelain. Each restoration is custom-designed in a trusted local lab to closely match surrounding teeth and complement your appearance.

Minor Gaps

Although some patients with gapped teeth may be better candidates for orthodontic treatment, many small gaps can be concealed with dental bonding or porcelain veneers.

Two or More Concerns

If you have several cosmetic concerns, a smile makeover may be the best option for you. This personally tailored treatment plan combines two or more cosmetic dentistry procedures to help you achieve dramatic results. Depending on which procedures you are undergoing, a smile makeover may need to be completed over the course of several appointments.
